Create an iPhone Advertisement
Introduction…
In this tutorial you will learn how to create a iPhone advertisement similar to the nano ad with paint dripping under it. If you have any questions about this tutorial be sure to ask in the comments and i’ll be happy to answer any questions. Also, remember with all the tutorials, the psd is available for download.
Download the PSD…
Don’t have time to do the tutorial, but would like to see the results? The PSD is available to anybody who would like to use it.
Lets get started…
1. First thing we want to do is create a new document. For this tutorial, I’ll be using a document with the size of 800×900
2. Now, we want to go ahead and get our iPhones up on screen. For this tutorial I went ahead and cut out a couple iPhone images for you to use.
Black iPhone Render
White iPhone Render
3. After you’ve downloaded the images, please open them up in photoshop and drag them onto your canvas. I used the White iPhone twice, and placed it - White - Black - White. You can see an example below:
4. Next, we want to go ahead and add a little drop shadow to all our iPhones. so on each of our iPhone layers, use the following blending options (right click layer>blending options)
5. Next, we want to go ahead and add our ‘paint dripping’ effect. To do so, I’ve found a great set of free paint dripping brushes that you can use. You can download them here.
6. After you have downloaded the brushes you’ve downloaded, switch to your brush tool and go ahead chose your new brushes from the present window.
7. Set your foreground to black and place your drippings behind the black iPhone.
8. These brushes aren’t perfect, but what we can do is copy the brush layer (when we are happy with it), about 4 or 5 times to give it a nice black. You should have something like that at this point:

9. Next, select all your dripping layers and merge them together onto one layer (Right Click>Merge Layers)
10. We now want to add the following blending options onto our drippings layer:
11. Your image should look something like this:

12. Now, we want to follow the same steps to get the paint drippings behind the white iPhones. So using your dripping brushes again, place some paint behind the white iPhones and you’ll have something that looks like this:

13. We want to go ahead and add some blending options to this layer to give it some more detail. So enter the following:
14. Your image will look something like this when you’ve added those blending options:
15. Now all thats left to do is add a title to our advertisement. The font that I used is Myriad Pro, but if you don’t have it, Helvetica should work out fine (some something similar). I went ahead and arranged my title as follows. Make two separate layers for “iPhone 3G”, and “not so nano-chromatic”:
16. Its still a little plain so lets add a little color to it. On our iPhone layer, input the following blending options:
17. And on the “not so nano-chromatic”, use the following:
18. Your final image will look like the following:

@Matthew Thomas
Nice outcome, you could take it a step further and cut out the iPhone logos on the overlay you did, so it has the metallic logo

Hello Matthew,
Everything fine?
Anyway, let’s get back to the point. I made your tutorial and I was pretty happy with the result. But it could be better, I thought. I thought the “paint dripping” could be more realistic, so I did it with the bevel/emboss-option. That made it a little bit more realistic, so I advise you to add some bevel/emboss. It looks much better!
But, with everything grabbed together; it looks like a great tutorial.
Bye,
Expert.
