Quickie: Create Photoshop Brush From Image
Introduction…
We showed you ten great free Photoshop brush websites, so now it’s time to learn how to create your very own. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to turn your favorite images into Photoshop Brushes.
Lets Get Started…
1. The first thing we want to do is open up the image we want to turn into a brush. For this tutorial, I’ll be using this picture of a Bugatti Veyron.
2. Next, we want to make our image black and white. To do so, go to image>mode>grayscale.

3. Your image will now look something like this:
4. Next, we want to go ahead and play with the brightness/contrast. To do so go to image>adjustments>brightness/contrast, and play around with the settings a bit
5. Now what we need to do is remove all elements out of the background. The easiest way to do this is to choose the Dodge tool from our tools pallet, and make sure its set to ‘Highlights’. Start brushing around your object and you’ll have something that looks like this
6. Now all that is left to do is to save it as a brush. So go to Edit>Define Brush Preset.. and a dialogue box like the following will pop up.
Thats it! When you open your brush present menu, you’ll now have your own custom brush there to use.
**If you have any problems, or have any questions about this tutorial, please leave your comments and I will get back to you.
